Acupuncture: ancient technique, real results

Acupuncture uses ultra-fine needles inserted at precise points on the body to relieve pain, reduce stress, and support your overall well-being. Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and increasingly backed by Western research, it's one of the most widely used complementary therapies in the world.

Two perspectives, one treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine describes acupuncture as a way to balance the flow of energy, known as qi, through pathways called meridians. When this energy flows freely, the body finds balance and harmony.

Western medicine takes a different view. It sees acupuncture points as sites that stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue, prompting the body to release its natural painkillers. Both traditions reach the same conclusion: for many people, acupuncture works.

Step 1: Needle insertion

Between 5 and 20 very thin needles are placed at strategic points on your body. You may feel a mild aching sensation when a needle reaches the correct depth, but most people feel very little.

Step 2: Needle manipulation

Your practitioner may gently move or twirl the needles, or apply mild heat or electrical pulses to enhance the treatment's effect.

Step 3: Rest and release

The needles stay in place for 10 to 15 minutes while you lie still and relax. Removal is painless. Many clients feel deeply relaxed afterwards; others feel energised
